Overflow of bunker fuel oil at anchorage off Changi, Singapore
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) announced on Oct 29 that there was a fuel oil leakage at the anchorage off Changi Airport around 5 p.m. on Oct 28. There was no impact on maritime operations at the strait due to the problems. Fuel oil overflowed from vessels during bunkering from a barge, prompting MPA to urgently spread oil dispersants. According to market participants, no congestion was reported at loading terminals due to the overflow of bunker oil. However, sources mentioned that safety management should be enhanced as leakage incidents repeatedly occurred this year.
