The European Energy Exchange (EEX) launched the US dollar TTF futures contract and the DES Northeast Asia LNG futures contract on Apr 15. On the first trading day, both contracts had no transactions. The EEX planned to hold seminars in Japan and Singapore in May to attract hedgers and speculators to the contracts. The EEX planned to consider listing products, such as LNG freight futures and DES Europe LNG futures, to expand line-ups related to LNG.

Asked whether to join the newly launched contracts of the EEX, a Japanese trading house said, "Of course, I pay attention to the contracts, but that depends on how much the contracts offer convenience. If the power utility companies join and the markets offer liquidity, we can use the contracts conveniently."
