China's first offshore gas storage starts construction Apr 15

It is reported that Jidong Oilfield gas storage started construction on Apr 15 of China's first offshore gas storage.

The gas storage at Jidong Oilfield to be built consists of four storage groups: Nanpu No.1, No.2, No.3 and Gaoliu, with a total of 18 storage tanks and a design capacity of 28.1 billion cubic meters. The total operational gas volume is 10.5 billion cubic meters. When the facility is completed and begins operations, Jidong Oilfield Gas Storage Group will become the North China gas storage center.

Jidong Oilfield is located in the Bohai Sea near Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, which is an important national natural gas consumption center. From 2023, two to three storage tanks will be put into trial operation every year. By the end of 2025, storage tanks will be put into operation with an annual operational gas volume of 2.55 billion cubic meters. The plan is for the operational gas volume to reach 7 billion cubic meters by 2030 and 10 billion cubic meters by 2035.
